One of 3 self-catering apartments in a wine producing domaine with swimming pool. Adapted for wheelchair use. En suite bathroom for each bedroom.
Domaine du Cayrat Three fully equipped houses with views over the vines and over the central courtyard of this wine-producing domaine. Originally providing accommodation for the estate manager ('r?gisseur') and the person who cared for the horses ('ramonet'), these houses have been modernised and converted by Jacques and Monique de Bary, using an attractive mixture of antique furniture and new, en suite bathrooms in all bedrooms, and fully fitted kitchens. Ramonet can accommodate 6 in comfort in approximately 110m2 of living space and has been adapted for wheelchair use. There is a ramp at the entrance to the house and on the ground floor there is a bedroom accessible by wheelchair with specially designed en suite shower room and WC. On the first floor there is one double bedroom and one twin bedded room, both with en suite shower rooms. There is an attractive tiled living/dining area, with views over the owners' vineyards. Both houses have fully equipped kitchens with fridge freezers, washing machines, dish washers, electric ovens and 4 ring electric hobs. Television and music centres are also provided. Facilities include one large outdoor pool (12m x 7m) in lovely country surroundings with plenty of sun-beds. Each house has a private outside area with garden furniture, lighting and barbecues for those Mediterranean evenings. The central courtyard is approximately 2500m2. Outside the courtyard, the pool area measures about 170m2 and there are also about 350m2 of lawns.
The Domaine du Cayrat is on the edge of Cazouls d'Herault, a village close to the historic town of P?zenas, very proud of its association with Moliere. The Mediterranean beaches are about half an hour's drive away, and in the other direction are the mountains, with opportunities for walking, kayaking, river bathing etc. Nearest main train station: B?ziers (30 minutes by car) Nearest international airport : Montpellier (50kms), Carcassonne (110kms)

Out and About
Pezenas, the nearest town, is about 7 kilometres away. It is a very pretty, lively town, hosting a Festival of Arts and Music every summer from June to September. There are exhibitions and concerts, and many free outdoor performances ranging from clowns to flamenco dancers to classical music. There is an interesting local museum and an easily-followed numbered tour of the town can be made. The town is immensely proud of its connection with Moliere, the 17th century dramatist. In the other direction is Beziers, 20 minutes' drive away, a city with a turbulent past but now one of the jewels of the Midi. Apart from the extraordinary turreted Cathedral there are numerous sites to visit, art galleries, cinemas, a theatre, and of course dozens of restaurants and bars. In August there is the week-long 'Feria', when the whole of Beziers takes to the streets to celebrate. There is a market and a flower market every Friday, and a monthly antiques market. Longer excursions could take you to the Camargue, the Upper Languedoc National Park, the African Safari Park at Sigean, the Cevennes or the Pyrenees, or even to Spain. There are Roman/Greek excavations at Oppidum d`Enserune, and even older natural wonders at the Cirque de Navacelles and the Chaos de Moureze. The superb medieval village of St. Guilhem-le-Desert is the high point of Languedoc monasticism. The Devil`s Bridge crosses the Herault here - it is the oldest medieval bridge in France (1036-1048). The gorges of the Herault offer many places to swim and canoe, and you can visit the grottoes. Nearby towns and cities worth visiting include Montpellier, Sete, Agde, Sommieres and Narbonne, and, at slightly greater distance, Avignon, Perpignan, Carcassonne and Nimes
