Beautifully restored village house with terrace and mature garden. In a medieval village 10 minutes from Pezenas, 25 minutes from the Mediterranean beaches.
Walk up a quiet street and through the front door and you are in a large, 50m², openplan sitting room.Terra cotta tiled floor, warm rugs ,white walls exposed wood beams and giant imposing fireplace set the tone. There is lots of light from the front and at the back the French windows giving onto the garden.
There is a w.c., a shower room and a laundry room on this floor.
Up some wooden stairs to the first floor which boasts a well equiped kitchen with a gas hob, an electric oven, twin sink, microwave and fridge freezer. There are a table and chairs with ample room for 8 and French windows letting the light stream in from a small balcony that overlooks the street.
On this floor there is a single bedroom and a double bedroom.
Stairs take you up to the second floor which has a light living area with French windows leading out onto the 10m² roof terrace. the roof terrace is fully equiped with outside furniture.
On this floor there is a large double bedroom with views over the garden, a bathroom with a small bath and a separate w.c.
The biggest joy of this house is the garden, an unusual luxury in the old Herault villages. About 100m² with shaded areas, mature plants, a barbecue and full outside furniture to benefit from the Mediterranean climate.
The house is situated in the old heart of the small medieval village of Castlenau les Guers. The village sits on a small hill and hence has views over Pezenas and the surrounding, mainly vine clad, country.
A short drive from Pezenas, with the mediterranean beaches within easy distance.

Out and About
The Mediterranean beaches are close by, ranging from a 7-mile long stretch of sand at Marseillan Plage to lively, cosmopolitan resorts like Cap d`Agde. The Herault River and thc Canal du Midi offer numerous opportunities for walking, swimming, fishing and boat trips. The magnificent Lac du Salagou 30 minutes away inland provides bathing, wind-surfing, fishing and excellent hilly walks. Horse-riding at the Centre de la Tour near Valros; and golf at Saint Thomas between Valros and Beziers. Pezenas, the nearest town, is about 3 kilometres away. It is a very pretty, lively town, hosting a Festival of Arts and Music every summer from June to September. There are exhibitions and concerts, and many free outdoor performances ranging from clowns to flamenco dancers to classical music. There is an interesting local museum and an easily-followed numbered tour of the town can be made. The town is immensely proud of its connection with Molière, the 17th century dramatist. In the other direction is Beziers, a 20 minute drive away, a city with a turbulent past but now one of the jewels of the Midi. Apart from the extraordinary turreted Cathedral there are numerous sites to visit, art galleries, cinemas, a theatre, and of course dozens of restaurants and bars. In August there is the week-long Feria, when the whole of Beziers takes to the streets to celebrate. There is a market and a flower market every Friday, and a monthly antiques market. Longer excursions could take you to the Camargue, the Upper Languedoc National Park, the African Safari Park at Sigean, the Cevennes or the Pyrenees, or even to Spain. There are Roman/Greek excavations at Oppidum d`Enserune, and even older natural wonders at the Cirque de Navacelles and the Chaos de Moureze. The superb medieval village of St. Guilhem-le-Desert is the high point of Languedoc monasticism. The Devil`s Bridge crosses the Herault here - it is the oldest medieval bridge in France (1036-1048). The gorges of the Herault offer many places to swim and canoe, and you can visit the grottoes. Nearby towns and cities worth visiting include Montpellier, Sète, Agde, Sommières and Narbonne, and, at slightly greater distance, Avignon, Perpignan, Carcassonne and Nimes
