Out and About

Servian is a flourishing wine-producing village with an historic church and centre, and many narrow, twisting streets. It has three bar-restaurants, one small restaurantand a take away Pizza place and, a regular market. There is, of course, a Cave Co-operative selling the locally produced wine, as well as several independent producers. There is a supermarket on the edge of the village. There are tennis courts and a large municipal swimming pool in the village and golf and horse-riding are available nearby. The magnificent Lac du Salagou provides bathing, wind-surfing, fishing and excellent hilly walks. The village is surrounded by vineyards and beautiful open countryside and many good walks and picnics can be had in the area. The Mediterranean beaches are close by, ranging from a 7-mile long stretch of sand at Marseillan Plage to lively, cosmopolitan resorts like Cap d`Agde - where can also be found Europe`s largest naturist resort. The Herault River and thc Canal du Midi offer numerous opportunities for walking, swimming, fishing and boat trips. Pezenas, the nearest town, boasts a lively Saturday market, two supermarkets, banks, bars and restaurants.. In the other direction from Servian is Beziers, 20 minutes' drive away, a city with a turbulent past but now one of the jewels of the Midi..We think our house is ideally situated. We are 20 minutes from the Mediterranean, but far enough inland to avoid the crowds of July and August. We are surrounded by countryside and waterways offering every opportunity for a "get-away-from-it-all" holiday of peace and relaxation, whilst being within easy driving distance of lively towns and cities offering everything from street markets to classical concerts. You need never leave the village, or you could pack your holiday with endless activities and excursions. The choice is yours! Sheets and towels can be provided at a cost per person of €10 for bedding, €5 for towels and €2 for beach towel.
